It is very common to hate something about people or to get irritated by a particular thing about someone. But just as we don't hate people for whom they are but who we ourselves are; it simply means that we love ourselves in others and hate who we are in others not necessarily who they are or who they are not.

No matter how 'bad' someone may be, if those negative traits are in us, we would hardly hate them. We would only hate something in them that is not us for which we have no pleasure for. Which is why you can hate something about someone but have another person who could love them for what you hate them for.

So whenever you find yourself hating something about someone; it simply means you are hating a trait about that person that is not in you and you don't find pleasure in not necessarily who they are.
